Jumping Fish Shed Light on Evolution
My article is about Flying Fish. Flying fish can do jumps that land them in their exact location which is amazing because they have no wings to fly or arms to glide all they have is their tail. Some scientists discovered after a boat ride following the fish they found out that the fish didn’t just randomly flop around the fish seemed to be in full control. When the fish landed in the water the fish still seemed to be in full control. The scientists experimented from guppies to mosquito fish and they found out that no other fish had that much skill to jump. The scientists also found out that the fish jump when they hear a predator coming. The scientists determined that many species of fish produce a coordinated maneuver in which the fish curls its head towards the tail and then pushes off the water to propel itself through the air. In conclusion the scientists think that since the fish is such a good jumper they may not be that good at swimming.
This article is related to science because it was scientists who were curious about how the flying fish jumped out of the water. The scientists were amazed by how they jumped out of the water they did a few lab experiments and they found out that the flying fish was the only fish that could fly. Scientists also were the first people who were actually interested in flying fish. That is why they even started the experiment. As you can see the scientist were very curious and interested about how they jumped and glided through the air so precise. I think it was a good thing they did research of the flying fish because then we would never know.

ReplyDeleteyes, these fish use their strength to break the surface of the water, and this way their predators get confused and find it more difficult to locate them. Overall, great summary, but how far can they jump? Where do they live and where were they studied? Be sure to include who wrote the article and the date it was written. Thank you!
