Bruised Joey Found Kicked Out of Mom’s Pouch
My article is about how scientists found a baby wallaby abandoned by his mother. When they found the little Joey he was cold, bruised, and dirty but still alert. The normal size of a wallaby Joey is around the size of a kidney bean. Totally unformed and it is to finish growing inside the mother’s pouch until it is strong and ready for action. Scientists are wondering how and why the mother wallaby rejected the baby Joey in the first place.  This baby Joey happens to be the smallest marsupial the zoo has successfully raised at the zoo. According to the zoo this baby wallaby is showing rapid growth and strength. The little baby Joey is still very small for a baby kangaroo but the zoo keepers are definitely starting to see some personality traits starting to show.  She is sweet and gentle. Parma wallabies are endangered species found in Australia and New Guinea. Another population was found in the forests of New South Wales Australia. In conclusion the San Diego Zoo in now hoping to raise funds to help marsupials like the little baby wallaby.

This article is related to science because it was the scientists who even found the baby wallaby and it was them who took it into the San Diego zoo. Also the scientists examined the wallaby and they are trying to find out why the mother wallaby rejected the baby wallaby. They also found out that the wallaby weighed a little bit over 2 ounces. This is very light and small. So as you can see the scientist did a lot for this baby wallaby Joey!

  1. I love Wallabys!!! The San Diego zoo has a wonderful conservation program for species who are endangered like Panda's. It's great that humans are trying to help animals. :)
